I Wanna Pony!

This is Sarabeth's first horse ride. Nugget is actually a mini horse, not a pony. He gets very offended by that.
My dad has a horse ranch in central Florida where we spent last week. We had a blast and I enjoyed seeing my dad with Sarabeth. The trip was too short as always but we plan to go back at Christmas. I'll have more pics of the trip soon.

Belated Vacation Photos
Ok, here are a few pics from our vacation in the Smoky Mountains. Matt and I took my younger sister, Lindsay, and met up with his 3 aunts and his mom for an RV trip through Tennessee. It was a great getaway before the baby comes and the cool thing about being in the RV was that I could eat, sleep, and pee whenever I wanted without making everyone else stop! Here's a little glimpse at how the trip went:
Me at the entry of an old Appalachian home on the Cades Cove Trail. This is one of the few original structures that were built during the 1800s. It was very cool to walk through these and see how people actually lived back then.
Matt on the Appalachia Trail. This trail runs from Georgia to Main and goes right through the Smoky's. There were lots of hikers on the trail.
My sis Lindsay at Abrahms Creek. Very, very cold water!
The Aunts and me in the creek. It felt so good to stop and wade in the water. It was really hot most of the day!
Matt took this one morning around 6am. This is in a valley in Cades Cove where lots of wildlife could be seen. We saw a ton of deer and a couple of fox. We really were looking for bears, but no luck :(
Me and my sis at Newfound Gap. This is where the Appalachian trail cuts through and one side of the gap is Tennessee and the other is North Carolina. Lindsay thought that was the coolest thing!
Here's us climbing to the top of Clingmans Dome. This is a man made lookout point over the mountains. It's about 6600 feet above sea level. It is a 1/2 mile hike up and back. I was very tired to say the least!
Lindsay at the top!
Matt and I at one of the many lookout spots on the way up the mountain.

The whole gang at the top of the dome-minus my sis who took the picture.

Matt and I at Abrahms creek under the bridge.
I was in awe looking at the majesty of these mountains. It was the first time I'd seen anything bigger than the rolling "hills" in the Hill Country of Texas. It's hard not to believe there is a God when I look at these creations. Not only the mountains, but all of the trees, the beautiful creeks and just the nature all together. The pictures don't really do it justice, it was breathtaking.

Hill Country Luxury
It's a Landes tradition that each year for our anniversary, we take turns planning a fun getaway. This year was my turn, which I love because I am THE PLANNER. Matt wanted to go shopping at the outlet malls in San Marcos so I made reservations at this really cool river house in New Braunfels over a month ago. It is owned by a friend of a friend so I got it for free, I thought. About a week before I got a call that the "friend" would need me to send her a check for $200 for a cleaning fee and a utility charge?? I was a little put out, of course because our budget did not call for a $200 lodging fee. Matt and I talked and HE decided we should just forget about the cabin and "wing it" for the weekend. We could find a hotel when we got there. He really didn't want me to get stressed out about planning something. I'm in a season of my life where I am really trying to let go of some control and trust my husband with things so I agreed (against my will). You know how this story ends, right? About 10pm on Friday night, we roll into San Marcos and stop at the first hotel, Best Western. Matt runs in and comes directly out with a smirk on his face. "Babe", he said. Then he proceeded to tell me that the clerk told him there wasn't a vacant hotel room within an hour of San Marcos. Possibly because it's 1. Spring Break 2. St. Patty's day 3. Huge Softball Tournament and 4. The Barbers Convention! I was tired, hungry, pregnant and emotional, but I held my tongue. The clerk also told him we might try Lockhart, about 20 minutes away, they usually have opening at the Lockhart Inn. I was overly joyed....yeah right! Matt was so upset, beating himself up for suggesting we "wing it". I knew not to say anything to make it worse, so I continued to bite my tongue. We drove up to the hotel-or motel- and Matt got the key. Room 114, at least it was on the bottom floor. Matt was so excited because we got 2 free breakfast coupons to Jaliscos Taqueria next door!
We walked in and it was the cutest little room I had ever seen! Huge bed, nice furnishings, clean, and so quaint. I loved it so much, we stayed 2 nights! We ended up having the best time and the most comfortable sleep I've had in weeks! Matt got all the glory, even though it was my year to plan, however I got the patient and understanding wife award for the weekend. I did it! I never knew trusting my husband would be so easy, and fulfilling. Happy Anniversary at the Lockhart Inn!
