Just Between Friends

I first learned about this sale through my friend Kim who emailed our Sunday School Class about the one in Dallas. I went to the website and found out more and ended up volunteering this weekend for the event. Just let me tell you that I had so much fun! If you aren't familiar with Just Between Friends you can go here to find out more about it. It has to be one of the most brilliant ideas around. I'm kicking myself asking why didn't I think of this! So here's the low down: This even is 2x per year in Spring and Fall. There is one coming up in April in The Woodlands, you can go here to see more info. The event is usually held in a church and basically, people from the area bring in there gently used baby and children items from clothes (including maternity) to books, videos, toys, stroller, etc. If it's related to babies and mamas, it's there! Its set up like a really huge garage sale but that's really a bad way to describe it because everything there is super nice! It's all inspected by volunteers and they only accept things that are in good shape. The sale is totally run all by volunteers that the girls from JBF gather up by word of mouth. The sale starts on Friday for the public and Thursday nights for 1st time moms, grandmas, and teachers. (this is the sale to be at!!) If you don't fall into these categories then you can volunteer to help or consign and get into the pre-sale before anyone else! I got some really sweet deals on clothes for Sarabeth and all kinds of toys. When you consign your items at JBF you get 70% of the price that you pick! Can't beat it! I really encourage all of you who read my blog and have kids or want to get rid of kid stuff to check out the sale in The Woodlands or in your area. They are recruiting volunteers now for The Woodlands sale and the girls that run the NW Houston and Woodlands events are both Christians and super nice. You really won't want to miss this opportunity.

Friends

Last week my good friend Rebecca came over for a digital scrapbook get together and she brought little sweet Lily! Although these two have met before, they've never had a chance to sit and play together. Lily and Sarabeth are so different. Lily is so crazy and outgoing and Sarabeth just kind of sits and takes it all in. The two were so cute together just talking away, and of course Lily put Sarabeth's foot in her mouth so she could suck on her toes! Sarabeth then tried to claw out Lily's eyes, but all in all it was fun for them and Rebecca and I stayed up until 1 a.m. talking. I love those kind of friends! Lily, come back soon to play!

Daddy Time

Sarabeth loves for Matt to read to her. She sits intently while he reads, like she knows exactly what the book is about. These moments warm my heart and remind me what a wonderful husband I have.

Husbands Say the Darndest Things Part 2 and 3
I think I may have to start tagging some of my posts since Matt keeps coming up with the funniest things. Yesterday we were at the drive thru and Dairy Queen. I made a comment to Matt how DQ now takes a debit card and they "used to not" take them. Apparently that struck Matt as funny. He then repeated what I said "used to not" what is that? "used to not???" What is that, like a retired astronaut?
Ok, so maybe you had to be there but we both died laughing at ourselves.
The other day we were driving down the road and some guy kept getting over in front of us then switching back into his own lane. He did it 3 times and I started getting frustrated and said "Geez, get over, don't get over, just make up your mind" Matt heard this "Dover, Donkey Dover, just make up your mind." He looked at me with this weird look, "honey, what's a donkey dover?" Oh the amusement that goes on in our family!

Sweet Potatoes and an Attitude

Sarabeth is developing a small attitude...as most girls do at some point, but I expected this around 12, not 4 months. We tried giving her some cereal this week and then we moved on to sweet potatoes, both of which she spit out and cried when I tried feeding them to her. I suppose it will take some time for her to get used to a spoon. In the meantime she has learned to reach for her bottle and knows when I'm making it. It's so funny to watch her when it's time to eat.
