Say Cheese!

Actually, everybody say "April's Pregnant!" That was what Matt said when he "staged" a family picture this weekend at his aunt's. It was the only creative thing we could think of to announce the baby on the way. All of our siblings had used up all the cool ideas already so we decided to get the family together and take a picture and as Matt was taking the picture he would say "everybody say April's pregnant" It really didn't work out the way we wanted, this was picture #3. The first 2, everyone was just smiling like normal! It took us a few minutes to actually convince everyone that we were REALLY having a baby! It was a classic Landes moment.

We were privileged to be able to tell my mom and Matt's parents in person as well as a few of our close friends. We too were very surprised! We had been trying to get pregnant for about 8 months, mind you we have never been on birth control the 5 years we have been married. We were surprised that after that long nothing happened. We made a trip to the fertility Dr. in January just to make sure everything was working properly. After a month of tests, we were told that we had only a 1% chance of getting pregnant on our own. The procedures suggested were out of our price range for sure. We went home and prayed, and deep down inside I knew God had a special plan for us but we needed to trust Him and wait. We'll that's a lesson God's been teaching me for the past few months and by now I was getting really good at it!

It was at a very dear friend's baby shower a few weeks ago that my friend convinced me that I was pregnant and even brought 2 tests to the shower! She has been wishing me pregnant the entire time she's been pregnant! I promised her I would take one when we got home and I did. To my surprise, it was positive. I called Matt and he rushed home to see what the heck was wrong. I didn't want to tell him on the phone so I just told him to come home quickly. Of course he told me when he got home that he thought something happened to our dogs! Needless to say, he was out of his mind excited!

Just a testimony to God's perfect timing. You never know what he has in store. I pray for those friends of mine who are desperately searching for answers on why God has not given them a child. I say to them, our God is the God of yesterday, today and tomorrow. Do not second guess God's ability to give you the gift of a child, no matter what the world says. He did it thousands of years ago, and he does it today.

A Man of Many Hats

In honor of St. Valentine's Day and my loving husband.... hope he doesn't kill me later :)

My husband Matt truely is a man after God's own heart. I can't say enough about how he loves me. One day he aksed me if I thought there was anything I could do to make God not love me and of course I answered no, he said "Then there is nothing you can do to make me not love you. God commanded me to love you as he loves his church." I never knew how true this was.
Our marriage has been anything but easy. Any man in his right mind would have doomed us failed for sure. Matt stood strong and never left my side, he never stopped praying and he never stopped being obedient to God and His plan for our marriage. Through all of this Matt, managed to excel at work, become more in love with Jesus, and remain his goofy, fun, self that I have grown to love.
Legend has it that St. Valentine performed secret marriages for soldiers during the days of Emporer Claudius II of Rome. The Emporer felt that single men made better soldiers than those with families. I have to disagree. Matt is the greatest soldier for the Lord I've ever known. You go St. Valentine!

I love you

Seasons of Laughter

Ok, so for our first blog I figured I would post some humor. You may not get it if you don't know us well, and even if you do, you may still think we are strange.
One night after Matt and I were first married, still living out of boxes from a recent move, Matt asked "Honey, where are the cups?" I answered, "Some are in the kitchen." "Summer in the kitchen??", he replied. We both sort of giggled at the statement. I have always had the tendency to talk fast and Matt has a habit of making sure I realize it! This time, I thought I'd play along. "Yes honey, Summer in the kitchen, and you Autumn get up and get one, and Winter in there, Spring me something to drink too!"
Guess you had to be there, but from then on, the seasons took on a whole new meaning!
